Tom Petty (1950-2017) was an American musician, singer, and songwriter known for his distinctive voice and his ability to blend rock, folk, and country music. He was the lead singer of the band Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, which rose to fame in the late 1970s with hits such as "American Girl" and "Refugee." Petty also had a successful solo career and was part of the supergroup The Traveling Wilburys. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002 and sold over 80 million records worldwide throughout his career. Petty passed away in 2017 at the age of 66 due to an accidental overdose.
